ABOUT THE PATCH

The Community patch 1.70 is an unofficial patch, that is compiled from work of numerous NWN community members and completed by Shadooow. “I dare to say that this update is the largest collection of fixes and unique features whatsoever. It took over year to put all of this together and detect/eliminate any issues that could been raised by doing this. But here we are and I hope that community appreciate this effort.” Shadooow

This patch does work almost the same way as old official patches in past. The only difference is that, the Community patch doesn’t affect the game version and its fully compatible with previous official patch – 1.69, so players without will still be able to play on servers with the patch and viceversa. Also, players without patch will still be able to see your server in gamespy server list. Installing onto lower game version is probably possible, but wasn’t tested and its not recommmended. The same goes for game without expansions.

Also, this patch is fully compatible with any custom content like CEP, PRC, Project Q etc. meaning, that if you install the patch, non of these will break, everything will still work fine. But obviously you won’t take advantage of all patch features and fixes until you (or CEP/PRC/Q team) merge 2das (and spell scripts). This is standard behaviour of any patch. It was always like this, the problem now is that its quite a while and nobody expected there will ever be another patch, so merging could be quite problematic…

The spell clock is a new element in the NWN2 user interface. It’s like a digital alarm clock intended to count spell duration (but it could also count any other time period). It could be very useful when casting long term buffing spells and want to know how much time is left before they expire.

This pack provides NPCs with various dynamic components that will change every time the module is opened, including: names, clothing, and sound sets. This helps to breathe more life and realism into your populated areas, making them more engaging than is possible with NPCs that have static names, clothing, etc.

Flexibility was kept in mind when making this pack, so module makers have the option to switch the various dynamic components on and off through altering the local variables on the NPCs themselves. This means if you want, you can give NPCs set names or specific sets of clothing quite easily.

Upon the dark alleyways a fine mist settles. The salty smell of the sea lingers in the air, mingled with the smells of rotting meat and sweat. The last warmth of the afternoon fades into the rock terraces and cobbled roadways, seeping the warmth into a damp coldness. A slight shifting breeze rustles the colourless foliage of hibernating trees. The night is unusually clear, clouds drifting slowly across the skyscope. The moon hangs full in the sky, but casts no light. A silence lurks from the darkness. Eyes watch from hidden locations, of beasts, men and creatures of a more sinister nature. Welcome to Luskan.

Due to a routing issue experienced with our hosting provider we were down most of the day today.  Then mysteriously one of the main files that runs the site was missing.  Luckly I keep a backup copy of everything I install and was able to restore it.

The files have been restored and the route to the database has been revived, and we are back. Whoohooo, man I hope that never happens again.  :-/

Due to scheduling issues and our very demanding employer working our tails off, there will not be a podcast this week.
The team has discussed it and came to an agreement that going forward we will only be doing episode on a bi-weekly basis. We are also making a shift in format to try to get the podcast produced and released more quickly. The new format will consist of Community News in a quick-shot format, and a main topic or interview every week. We are going to work on having more interviews then we currently do. This will bring the show length to about 30 minutes and we should be able to get it out the night it is recorded, which means the news won’t be stale by the time you hear it.

So catch us next week for Episode 26, when we will be discussing the Cleric class.

The site was down several hours today because our hosting provider had an issue with thier domain routing which cuased us to be unable to connect to the database.  This issue was reported to our hosting provider around 8:10 AM today and has been resolved.

We have been working closely with ODEO Support to resolve the issues we have experienced. The issue has been fixed for any new audio message, but is still not letting us get to previously sent items.

You can again now send us your questions, ideas, tips, mod spotlights, etc via the Send Me An Odeo link on the site.

Remember folks this is your chance to get your voice on the podcast.

We have been having some issues with our ODEO in-box. They have changed the site and since then we can not retrieve audio messages. We are currently working with ODEO support to resolve the issue. I’ll post an update as soon as we have this working.

Update: We recieved a reply from ODEO Support and they have confirmed the bug and are working to correct it.
